Winter is coming

Winter is coming and in some places it already came. Winter can be funny but also boring for children. It is not so easy to go to zoo or water park during the winter. But there are number of interesting places you could go with your kids during the winter.

You can visit museums or different research and educational centers. Even the indoor playground can be great. So winter can be funny too.

So spend day with kids web site is preparing for the winter too (and we know we are maybe little bit late). We are planning to include much more museums and playgrounds for USA. Currently for some locations you can find museums but for some there are no museum at all. So for example you can check for museum around new york.

So what is the plan?

The plan is that spend day with kids will be extended with number of museums and other indoor fun through out the USA. So we hope that we will be even more useful.

Limit the searching distance and order results by distance

New options are coming on our site. So far you could search around some city or address and you got all places to go in the range of 100 km from the search place. For some searches this was good enough but for some of them you just got too much results.

For example, there are 100 places to go with kids around London. There are number of limitations with this result. There is too much places for one to really find something interesting and further on they are sorted by type of attraction so you don't know which one is nearest to you.

In the case of e.g. Miami, in the database, currently, there are only 10 places to go in Miami. In this case nor sorting nor distance limitation is not so important.

But now there is solution to this problem. For example, now you can search for things to do with kids in the 10 km distance from the Big Ben in the London. And even more, in this case they are sorted by the distance from the Big Ben.

So if you want to search for places to go and have family day out closely to your address, in the search bar you can enter your address and e.g. limit the search to 10 or 20 kms. You will get only few results but all of them will be closely to you.

Some new features to come on things to do with kids

Things to do with kids is growing and already has over 1200 places to go with kids.

Number of countries is included but the best covered countries are USA, UK and Germany. There is still long path to go to cover in details even USA and UK but I hope that site will keep growing.

I am planning to extend coverage and also to implement new features. But not sure where to go. Things that are in my mind are following:
- extend coverage of USA
- extend coverage of Germany
- include Canada
- support limiting search by different distances
- support to display only by certain type of attraction

Nationalparks of Germany included on spend day with kids

As promised few day ago number of places to visit in Germany is still growing on spend day with kids. Number reached 99. The latest what is included are some of the most famous national parks and a few educational spots.

I believe that coverage of the Germany is better than it was but still there is a long path before the good coverage is included.
